No idea can come before it’s time has come

An idea

An idea is like a tree. It requires three basic ingredients for it’s growth and understanding. The first is the basic thought/intuition/the formulated concept and the resultant hypothesis in the mind which acts like the seed of the idea. The second are the experiences/natural events/observations or percepts supportive and confirmatory of the hypothesis; acting like the sunlight, soil, air and water supporting the growth of the idea. And the last is the appropriate time which is essential for the nurturing and understanding of the idea.
It is only when all the ingredients come together and the understanding is complete; the idea blossoms and delivers its fruits.
A tree takes it’s own time to bear fruits and it is for the same reason, no idea can come before it’s time has come.

Idea is thus a thought/ intuition with an understanding. Understanding allows for application of the idea and bringing about a visible change.

Individuality, diversity, family and oneness

A family had four children. Each child, special but different. Each with a unique personality and individuality. Each with a different nature, thoughts and style of life. Their parents were happy for their uniqueness. The mother once asked the father, “I am happy that they are all unique and different but I am concerned that they might drift apart because of their differences and may have problems with each other and with the diverse world outside. I am concerned about the oneness of our family?”
The father said thoughtfully, “My dear, they are different individuals and have different lives. Individuality is essential for growth. They belong to one family yet they can be never be same and they must maintain their individuality for their growth and uniqueness. Obviously, they will have differences and problems. They can however, discuss and sort out their differences and the problems, when they understand them properly. The issue is not the differences or the problems they face. The issue is, how to maintain growth of individuality in the diversity of the world and yet maintain oneness of the family.”
“And how would they maintain their individuality in the diversity and yet be one?” The mother asked.
“It’s simple. Try to understand, the growth of individual and the identity thereof. Individuality is not only about the place you were born at, but also about the places you visited. Individuality is not only about the language you inherited and learnt from parents, but also about the new expressions and new languages you learnt on the way. Individuality is not only about the religion you were born into, but also about the knowledge you gained about life and God on the way. Individuality is not only about what you have been taught, but also about what you learnt on the way. Most importantly, Individuality is not about knowing only oneself, but also about knowing  people you met on the way. The identity of individual therefore has the scope to grow and become universal. So, howsoever far our children might go for their growth, the family shall remain one in both principle and existence.”
The mother smiled and said, “It is simple because I know, my children want and have the capacity to grow.”
The father smiled too, “So, let them grow and expand in their minds.”
“Yes, Let’s watch them grow as individuals and see how they sort out their problems and issues.”
The parents smiled together and rejoiced in their family and it’s oneness.

Now consider the children to be the four dimensions of space and time. Our growth depends upon the extent and depth of our vision.

Faith, hope and science

I have already narrated an incident about meeting a follower of yet to be born hindu god Kalki while travelling in a train from Bangalore to Ahmedabad during my college years.
I shall divulge few more details about the conversation we had during the journey.
Our conversation started with the predictions of Nostradamus, about Hitler, rise of fascism, second world war and finally predictions about birth of Lord Kalki and why fascism will not succeed in India.
“Hindu Gods are constantly reborn and evolve according to the times and hence fascism won’t rise in India,” he explained.
The Kalki follower didn’t stop here. He told me more about lord Kalki, “Lord Kalki will be the god of Science, knowledge and wisdom. He shall travel in his white horse and unite people of all faiths.”
I asked a simple question, “You told me that Lord Kalki will be a hindu god, then how will he unite people of different faiths?”
He smiled and replied, “It is because of the unique idea of Hinduism and history of India. Hinduism believes in ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam’(the world is a family) and India is a place where people of many faiths have co-lived for centuries. India therefore has the idea as well as the strength to unite people of all faiths. Like all the rivers which finally meet in the ocean, all the faiths shall unite in presence of lord Kalki. The human race will then enter a new age of wisdom and knowledge.”
I was amazed to hear his words. I am however, of a scientific temperament and therefore believe in uncertainty principle of nature. This principle doesn’t allow for exact predictability. This principle makes life unpredictable but interesting.
Due to uncertainity principle, I may not agree to any exact prediction, but as a student of science, I also believe in theory of everything)Unified field theory) and hopeful of a day when all phenomenon may be explained. Hope, therefore is a quality worth having, even in science because it gives us an ability to see possibilities and not just the problems.
For the same reason, I hold the Kalki follower in high regard because howsoever impractical his expectations may sound, they were coming right out of his heart. Who Knows, science and religion may meet at the theory of everything and as it is often said; May God dispose what this man had proposed.

The story of philosophy

Once a group of young scholars assembled for a discourse on philosophy. They presented wonderful arguments in favour of their philosophies and yet could not reach a conclusion as to which philosophy is the best. They finally decided that they would continue to meet again every year and discuss more about the perfect philosophy of life. They met again many a times and continued their discussion for many years yet a final solution was not forthcoming. During these years they acquired education from good institutes, got good employment, married, settled in life, had their own children, became members of many research institutes and made steady progress in their life. They kept providing arguments in favour of their philosophies and yet didn’t reach any agreement about a perfect philosophy of life.

Every individual included in the group was a staunch believer in their own philosophy which they followed and evolved along with their daily lives. Finally when they thought a conclusion was impossible they visited a wise man. They put forward their predicament to him. The wise man reminded all of them about the useful life they had led while discussing their philosophies and how each philosophy was shaped and built upon their respective experiences. He told them about how they had lived a fulfilling life while searching for a solution to the mysteries of life. Then he asked them whether they were questioning the authenticity of their own experiences. The philosophers replied in negative. The wise man then asked them a simple question, “What else are you looking for ?”

Philosophy said the wise man, is a search of wisdom. The most important wisdom is to find a perfect way of living which differs from one person to another more because of our own individual nature. The wise man then said that the confusion in the mind arises when after living an entire life we begin to question the authenticity of our own living and existence. To be inquisitive is necessary but to be doubtful is not essential. That life provides us enough opportunities to learn, grow and mature is the actual purpose of life and the way the life is lived is a complete and perfect proof and most significant factor in deciding the authenticity of any philosophy or outlook of the world.

Celebrating Nature

Celebrating Nature is the first book of its kind. Its a novel with a story and poetry both, touching many aspects of art, philosophy, literature and science. The book attempts to narrate the importance of Nature in inspiring and guiding us to learn, grow and seek the essence of life. It does so through the story of a little girl named Prakrati(Prakritti) which literally means our own surrounding nature in Hindi language. Prakrati is the only child of Mr Jagat and Mrs Janaki. Her parents are teachers in a primary school located in a small town located in the foothills of a mountain range. When she is a child, she grows up in proximity to Nature and her creatures that inspire her. As she grows older the town becomes more industrialised. There is a conflict about the old natural environment and the new industrial world. Her life also faces the same conflict of remaining innocent and pure like the childhood and growing up as a youth. She struggles to solve the conflict. Her childhood memories want the natural environment to be restored but her youth seeks change and new opportunities. She realises that the conflict of her own life are similar to that of Nature. She resolves those conflicts when Nature makes her realise that freedom is also about the responsibility.

Nature as we know is about beauty, feeling and love. This book highlights another role of Nature in stimulating and giving appropriate direction to our thoughts and creativity.

This book tells us the story of a little girl named ‘Prakrati’ born in a small town located in the foothills of a mountain range. The story is presented along with poetry based primarily on Nature. The poems contain the predominant philosophy inherent in Nature’s various aspects.

The book is presented in two different sections. The first section “Nature’s child” presents the story of Prakrati’s early childhood and how she is born and brought up in Nature’s proximity. The second section “Creator and creation” tells us about Prakrati’s subsequent life and the lessons learnt by her from Nature while growing up.

“Nature’s child” presents the perception of Nature from the perspective of a child. “Creator and creation” presents the meaning and purpose contained in various aspects of Nature.

This book is primarily meant to be read by the entire family because it tells the story of Prakrati who represents our own surrounding Nature through all stages of life.

A poem from the book- celebrating nature

Bountiful Nature

In nature, all aspects are intertwined

To each other they bind

Generating poetry in an inspired mind.

The flowing waters of the river

Always striving forward,

Let thoughts be progressive, profound

Their implications and meanings wider.

The flight of the seagull into the skies, steeply soaring

The sounds of the ocean, resoundingly roaring

In the vast skies, the flocks of geese

Beautiful and perfect in themselves are these.

The finesse in movement of nature’s every creature

With their beautiful and colourful features

The dance of the peacock in the rains

Lessons and celebration of life together as gains.

The songs of the nightingale

The streams flowing through the dales

Along with the soft whispers of winds

The music of nature, beautifully blends.

The blooming of a bud into a flower

The mountains appearing like big natural towers

The softness of the flower and hardness of a rock

All aspects of knowledge,

Together in nature they flock.

The growing of a body

The building of the nature from all the sand

Takes all the time

Yet when made,

Everything looks so beautiful and fine.

Nature has plenty to teach

We just have to seek and search

And to learn the wisdom which

Through the ages,

Nature continues to preach.

In nature, all aspects are wonderful and divine

They teach us lessons sublime Purpose, meaning and beauty all combined.
